Acceptance of Terms By booking, paying for, or attending any lesson with AngleseyMusic, ConsortMusic and/or any of it's branches, the student (and their parent/guardian if under 18) implicitly and fully accepts these Terms and Conditions. These terms supersede any prior agreements and are non-negotiable.

-
Learning Materials: Students are responsible for purchasing their own required learning books or sheet music. These can be ordered through your local branch at cost price or sourced independently.
-
Examinations & Administration Fees: All formal music examinations are booked and administered centrally by ConsortMusic via your teach and our central admin team. -
3. Payment Terms AngleseyMusic and ConsortMusic and it's branches operates a strict "Pay Before You Play" policy. Under no circumstances will a lesson commence unless payment has been cleared. Preferred payment methods are Auto-pay via the student portal, Stripe card payment, bank transfer, or cash prior to the lesson.
-
Pay-As-You-Go / Per-Lesson:
-
Payment is due before the start of the lesson.
-
If payment is not received within 48 hours following the lesson, a 25% administration surcharge of the total owed will be applied immediately, without exception.
-
-
Pre-Paid / Invoiced (Block Bookings):
-
Invoices are issued 5 days prior to the start of the new invoice period.
-
Full payment must be cleared before the first lesson of that period begins.
-
If full payment is not received within 48 hours of the due date, a 25% surcharge of the whole invoiced amount will be applied, without exception. Unpaid missed lessons remain billable.
-
Invoices will not be amended once issued. Any planned absences must be communicated before the new invoice period begins. Any overpayments will roll forward to the next invoice.
-
-
Late Payment Penalties & Debt Recovery:
-
Three-Strike Rule: Any student incurring three late payment charges within a 3-month period will be mandated to sign up for Auto-pay or will face immediate termination of lessons.
-
Reclamation: Failure to pay outstanding invoices and surcharges will result in legal debt recovery. AngleseyMusic and ConsortMusic reserves the right to cancel all future lessons (applying the 1-month cancellation fee) or force a move to a mandatory automated monthly payment scheme.
-
4. Cancellations, Punctuality & No-Shows
To protect our teaching schedules, the following rules are strictly enforced:
-
The 48-Hour Rule: Cancellations must be made via the student portal or directly to AngleseyMusic or ConsortMusic at least 48 hours before the lesson start time. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice are billable at the full rate. Any waivers or exceptions to this charge are made strictly at the discretion of the individual teacher and should never be expected as standard.
-
The 4-Hour Rule: Lessons cancelled within 4 hours of the start time are fully billable, with zero exceptions. If a student breaches this 4-hour rule twice within a 3-month period, AngelseyMusic will immediately terminate all future tuition.
-
The 10-Minute Cut-Off: Punctuality is essential. If a student is more than 10 minutes late for their scheduled start time, the lesson will be automatically forfeited and the teacher is no longer obligated to teach that slot. This forfeited lesson remains fully billable. (Please note: Being 10 minutes late is not classed as a "no-show" and will not trigger lesson termination on its own).
-
No-Shows: Failing to attend a lesson entirely without any prior communication is completely unacceptable. Any student who "no-shows" twice in a 3-month period will have their tuition agreement terminated permanently.
-
Rearranged Lessons: Discretionary rearranged lessons, if offered by the teacher, remain fully billable even if subsequently cancelled by the student.
-
Teacher Punctuality: If the teacher is running late, the time will be made up either in that session or the next, or a pro-rata refund will be applied.
5. Scheduling, Attendance & Extended Absences
-
Continuous Scheduling: Lessons operate on a rolling, ongoing basis. Your slot is automatically booked for the same day and time each week unless a prior alternative arrangement has been explicitly agreed upon.
-
Extended Absences (4+ Weeks): If a student is unable to attend lessons for four or more consecutive weeks, they will automatically forfeit their regular lesson slot. This prime slot will be immediately released and offered to other waiting students. To guarantee the retention of a specific slot during an extended absence, the absent weeks must be paid for in full.
-
Minimum Attendance: Students are expected to maintain a minimum 70% attendance rate.
-
Low Attendance Penalty: Any student whose attendance falls below 60%, regardless of the reason, will either be charged for all missed lessons or have their tuition agreement terminated.
-
Fortnightly Lessons: These are offered strictly in non-primary time slots. No alternative slots will be provided for missed fortnightly lessons. It is the student's responsibility to manage their schedule via the portal.
6. Termination & Notice Period After the first month of paid tuition, a 1-month notice period is required to permanently cancel lessons. Any scheduled lessons falling within this 1-month cancellation period remain fully chargeable, regardless of whether the student chooses to attend them.
7. Practice & Instruments Consistent practice between lessons is a strict requirement to avoid stagnation. Students must obtain an instrument for home practice within their first few lessons; failure to do so will result in lessons being paused.
-
Equipment Care & Damage Liability: All studio instruments are the personal, professional property of either the school or the teacher. They must be treated with absolute respect. No standing on pedals, forcing parts, or playing without invitation. Any damage caused by a student to studio equipment through negligence or failure to follow instructions will be billed directly to the student or their parent/guardian.
8. Health, Safety & Illness AngleseyMusic or ConsortMusic must be informed of any relevant medical, educational, or special learning needs to ensure student wellbeing.
-
Illness Policy: If a student is visibly unwell, contagious, or suffering from severe vocal strain (for singers), they must not attend the studio. We will either conduct the lesson online or apply the standard cancellation policy.
9. Safeguarding & Conduct
-
DBS: All teachers hold current DBS checks.
-
Digital Communication: For child protection, teachers will not communicate directly with any student under 18 via personal mobile, email, or social media. All contact must go through parents/guardians or the monitored MMS Student Portal.
-
Drop-Off / Pick-Up: Parents must collect minors promptly. AngleseyMusic, ConsortMusic, it's branches or teachers are not responsible for students outside of their allocated teaching time.
-
Right of Refusal: AngleseyMusic, ConsortMusic and it's branches reserves the right to immediately terminate lessons for any student or parent displaying abusive, disruptive, or inappropriate behaviour, with no refund given.
10. Teacher Absence & Force Majeure
-
If a teacher is unavailable, we will notify you as soon as possible. Any prepaid fees will be rolled forward or refunded. Teacher holidays will be communicated at least 2 weeks in advance.
-
Force Majeure: AngleseyMusic, ConsortMusic and/or it's branches or teachers are not liable for cancelled lessons due to events beyond our control (e.g., extreme weather, power outages, sudden facility closures).
11. Data Protection, Privacy & Media (GDPR) Student details are held in strict confidence in compliance with current UK data protection laws and will not be shared with third parties without express permission.
-
Media Consent: Occasionally, photographs or videos may be taken during lessons, workshops, or performances for marketing purposes. Permission will always be requested at the time. Accepting these terms grants us permission to use the media we explicitly ask to take, unless you clearly state otherwise to your teacher at that moment.
Music room rules:
1. Only play when invited
2. No food or eating in the music room. Drinks can be brought in, however they must be placed on the side tables provided or floor.
3. Listen!
4. Please wait in the designated areas (see your email) until your teacher comes out to collect you. Your teacher will come out to invite you in at your lesson time.
5. Be respectful to our staff, other lessons and students by not making excessive noise when entering, leaving or waiting for lessons
6. Although we have to provide toilet facilities, we do ask that students please try to use the toilet before they arrive for their lesson to minimise our between-lesson sanitisation.
